April 10th 2011 - Brighton, UK

Carlotta Luke raising funds for the Omid Foundation

The Brighton Marathon is the UK's most exciting new major race that promises to be even bigger and even better than the stunning inaugural event in April 2010. This year, Sunday 10th April will see the race route around the city of Brighton & Hove packed with spectators and runners alike; based on the astonishing atmosphere in the city for the 2010 edition, the authorities believe there will be over 100,000 people out supporting the runners as they wind their way around one of the UK's most iconic cities. On a gloriously sunny day, the atmosphere was quite infectious in 2010 but with over 15,000 entries sold in just 30 days for the 2011 race, this year promises to surpass the achievements of 2010. The event attracts a very colourful and heterogeneous group of participants from professional athletes competing against each other to amateurs whose main goal is to raise as much money as possible for their favourite charity. I went to the Ziba Shirazi Night of Story Telling event to Keep Children In School and it was amazing, Intimate, touching and well worth it. The most touching part was having the chance to hear the children they have helped thank their sponsors. It brought tears to my eyes, and joy to my heart. Thank you Ziba Joon
